JJ Stokes is a former American football player who played as a wide receiver in the NFL. He was born on October 23, 1972, in San Diego, California. Stokes played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a standout player for the Golden Bears.
Stokes was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 10th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. He played for the 49ers from 1995 to 2002, and then spent one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003 before retiring.
During his NFL career, Stokes was known for his size, speed, and reliable hands. He was a key part of the 49ers' offense, playing alongside Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young and fellow wide receiver Jerry Rice. Stokes finished his career with 325 receptions for 4,293 yards and 30 touchdowns.
